Re: Romney + Ryan = Fail

It's hard to function as a democracy with a misinformed or uninformed populace. The mainstream media is useless, becoming little more than stenographers repeating what each side tells them, and not fulfilling their duty to determine which side is lying and which is telling the truth. There's also th...

Re: Romney + Ryan = Fail

Republicans cling to the old ways (that worked), Democrats cling to the new ideas (that have repeatedly around the world have proven to be failures). Ha!!!! Quoted for emphasis because it's one of the dumbest declarations I've seen posted here. I literally have no words. Where do you even begin a d...

Re: Romney + Ryan = Fail

Hey look! A Naderite. Garrdor, the "both parties are the same" shtick wasn't funny back in 2000, and the Republican Party wasn't anywhere near as extreme and dangerous as it is now. It's funny that Arathena is wondering when the country is going to wake up to the fact that the Republican Part...

Re: Romney + Ryan = Fail

Democrats had a supermajority (on paper) for a few months between Al Franken taking his seat and the death of Ted Kennedy. Not two years. But that's irrelevant. The Republican Party blocked Obama's attempts to expire part of the Bush tax cuts. They know the rubes are too stupid to understand that th...

Re: Romney + Ryan = Fail

This is probably too complicated for you to comprehend, but I'll try anyways. Not all policies end the day a President leaves office. Bush's deficit exploding tax cuts and Medicare expansion certainly haven't ended. And since the Republican's have blocked Obama's attempts to expire some of the Bush ...

Re: Romney + Ryan = Fail

You can roll your eyes in denial all you want, but the fact remains that Bush era policies and the recession account for nearly all of our annual deficit. Only a tiny part is the result of new spending enacted by Obama.

Re: Romney + Ryan = Fail

Yes, I read the op-ed. The talking point is just as dumb and misleading as when Embar said it 2 1/2 years ago . Obama has not dramatically increased spending. Nearly all of the current deficit is caused by Bush era policies and the recession . Also, pretending to care about the deficit while support...

Re: Romney + Ryan = Fail

L2read. Spending Per Year You didn't give figures for "spending per year"; you gave figures for deficit spending per fiscal year. And you seem to be going back to fiscal year 2008 for Bush and blaming deficit spending in fiscal year 2009 on Obama. Do I need to explain to you why that's moronic and ...

Re: Romney + Ryan = Fail

However, with the addition of Ryan, the election becomes a choice of idealogies, which is what it should be. Only if Romney tells the truth about the affect of his policy proposals, which he won't. Then you have the overall malaise of the economy, which is also still Bush's fault, that they've done...

Re: Worst Congress Ever!

You should quit parroting lines from the Obama campaign. Nice try, but I linked to a Politfact article that found the Romney attack false . In speeches and videos, the Romney campaign has repeatedly distorted Obama's words. By plucking two sentences out of context, Romney twists the president's rem...

Re: Worst Congress Ever!

Heh. So it wasn't even your analysis, you were just parroting an incredibly vacuous blog post. It's an amusing piece. I love how the author says that " outside events have to be taken into account before you assign praise or blame ", and then proceeds to write a blog post that doesn't do that. Hmmm....

Re: Worst Congress Ever!

First, Presidents don't control spending, Congress does. In all fairness, Clinton should thank Gingrich for the spending, since all spending bills originate on the House floor (controlled by Reps and lead by Gingrich at the time). Since 1974 (when all this shit began to unravel thanks to the Congre...

Re: Worst Congress Ever!

The court of public opinion is about as independant and objective as the press tells them they are. Very true. So it's very odd that you consistently point to public opinion or perceptions when attacking Obama, regardless of what the facts are. As I said a year ago , you don't care about reality as...

Re: Worst Congress Ever!

By the time a person get to being their respective nominee, the returns have been vetted by staff, I'm sure. And in this case the returns were vetted by staff and then they refused to release them. The only reason for not releasing them is if the information in the returns is more damaging than the...

Re: SCOTUS and ACA

Are you saying that the ER is acceptable healthcare for people who can't afford health insurance? Putting cost aside, do you think it negatively affects a persons well being to make them wait until a medical issue is bad enough to justify an ER visit? Why do you think we can't do as well by our citi...

Re: Worst Congress Ever!

You'll also want to read the op-ed by Mann and Ornstein. The Republican Party is off the rails, and the American voting population is just uninformed enough to vote for them. Frightening times.

Re: SCOTUS and ACA

So simply put, the uninsured in this country still have access to healthcare, and reliance on the ER as a primary care medium has very little effect on the healthcare cost equation. Are you actually saying that the ER is acceptable healthcare for people who can't afford health insurance? Putting co...
