Re: Android Development

We build our apps in C++ using Marmalade: http://www.madewithmarmalade.com/

The main benefit is the same source runs on Android, IOS, Blackberry, Facebook, etc. The other nice thing is we can program and deploy to IOS from Visual Studio on Windows. Their device emulator is also super fast. :)

Re: Cancellations

Person of Interest: This has bounced from cancelled to renewed twice this week. Hard to imagine as it has a pretty big following. Not sure of your source on this. I've never seen anything other than it was renewed back in March: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/27/person-of-interest-renewed-se...

Assuming they actually start shipping them, the ASIC rigs are going to be the only way to mine with a chance of a profit soon.

Re: The All-Encompassing "TV SHOW" LIST

I tried to get into Misfits, but the first episode didn't grab me. Maybe I'll have to give it another shot. Definitely want to check out Cult, since it's a Rockne S O'Bannon (Farscape) creation! It's been a while, but from what I remember it took a few episodes for Misfits to get started. If you li...

Re: The All-Encompassing "TV SHOW" LIST

I'm guessing at some of the days, they might be off since I acquire my TV from non-network sources. I watch while at my computer doing other stuff mostly, so although I "watch" a lot of shows, there are only a few I stop what I'm doing and actually pay attention to. Sunday: Mentalist Good Wife Calif...

Re: Need New Book Series

Harlowe, something just clicked with Dresden. I think you asked about that? (Sorry, I'm lame) I never watched the television series, but the books are fun. You can tell that the first one is from a new writer because you can kind of see him getting better as the book goes on. The second one also im...

The Dresden Files has 15 books. You might be thinking of the graphic novels.

Re: New Comp - Thoughts?

You should try putting all the parts together here: http://pcpartpicker.com/ Easy to see all the prices, including things that are on sale, and it generally won't let you put things together that aren't compatible. It'll also show you an estimate of power required so you don't end up with an underpo...

Re: I logged on...

Hmm, I didn't lose anything on any of my toons. You should check the mailbox npc too since if you had too much stuff for the amount of free inventory slots you get it gets sent to there. I don't remember where it was though, I had to look it up.

Re: Revolution

Is that the one where the EMP hits and all the technology is gone? They didn't seem to specifically say why it happened or that it was an EMP, but yeah all the modern technology seems to be dead. It seems like it might be ok, but you can see it's going to have some weird conspiracy twists going on....

From http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/rhinoceros/rhino-horn-use-fact-vs-fiction/1178/ Unlike the horns of most animals, which have a bony core covered by a relatively thin layer of keratin, rhino horns are keratin all the way through — although the precise chemical composition of the keratin ...

Re: 38 Studios bankrupt, ip & source code for sale

One other stumbling block is that as far as I know they were still using Unreal Engine 3 for the client and BigWorld for the server. Unreal has never been designed to work well in a MMO environment although there have been some people crazy enough to try with some success, like Vanguard, DC Universe...

Re: 38 Studios bankrupt, ip & source code for sale

Based on what I've heard, 80%-90% complete is an overly optimistic estimate. It'll be interesting to see what happens, but I'd guess anyone with the money and development team to attempt to finish the game would be smart enough to see it's throwing good money after bad.

Re: Jack Reacher

It's the 9th book, but it probably doesn't really matter where they start, all the books are pretty standalone. I agree that Tom Cruise doesn't feel like Reacher at all to me, he's just not physically intimidating like I feel Reacher is supposed to be. I'm waiting for the new movie based on the Robe...
